What to Do If You Have Liquid Damaged Your Apple iPhone, iPad, or Mac

Liquid damaging your Apple devices can be a distressing experience, but knowing the right steps to take can save your device from permanent damage. Follow our comprehensive guide to maximize your chances of recovery.

Immediate Actions To Take

The most important step is to immediately turn off your Apple device. This is done by pressing and holding the power button until the device turns off. The aim of this is to prevent any short circuits which can cause further damage.
Once shut down, dry the exterior of your Apple device with an absorbent cloth to prevent any more liquid seeping into the device.

Drying and Recovery Process

It’s extremely important to let your Apple device properly dry before turning it on again.

To help with the drying process, you can put your device in a container filled with silica gel packets or another moisture absorbent material. This will help to remove any liquid that has made its way into your Apple device. If possible, leave your device to dry for at least 24–48 hours.

Not turn your Apple device on until you are confident it is completely dry, and avoid using ovens and microwaves to dry your device.

What We Can Do To Help!

If the above actions do not revive your Apple iPhone, iPad, or Mac, don’t panic. Bring it to us! Our expert technicians and advanced tools are ready to diagnose and repair your Apple device properly.

When you bring your liquid damaged iPhone, iPad, or Mac to us, one of our skilled technicians will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the extent of the damage.

After the initial assessment, we begin by carefully cleaning any visible corrosion on the logic board. Corrosion, which can occur when liquid interacts with the board’s components, can severely impact the functionality of your device. This initial clean aims to remove as much of this corrosion as possible, allowing us to restore connections that might have been compromised. A Manual Clean of your device’s logic board costs £49 to carry out.

If this manual clean does not fully resolve the issue, the next step is to place the board into an ultrasonic cleaner. This specialized equipment uses high-frequency sound waves to create microscopic bubbles in a cleaning solution, which gently dislodge and remove any remaining contaminants from the board’s intricate components. The ultrasonic cleaner is particularly effective in reaching areas that are difficult to access by hand, ensuring that the board is thoroughly cleaned. An Ultrasonic Clean of your device’s logic board costs £99 to carry out.

Once the ultrasonic cleaning is complete, our technicians will perform a series of tests to evaluate the board’s functionality. If necessary, we will then proceed with detailed board repair, which may involve replacing damaged components, soldering broken connections, or other intricate repairs. Board repairs cost between £299 and £399 to carry out.

There may be additional repairs required due to liquid damage that only become apparent after the board has been repaired. If this occurs, our technicians will promptly inform you and discuss the necessary next steps. Book a Liquid Damage Investigation today!
